TEACHING ITAL TO
THE NEXT GENERATION
Community is at the heart of Taste of Ital.
Beyond cooking and sharing meals, this work is about passing on knowledge - teaching young people where food comes from, how to care for their bodies, and how culture lives through what we eat.
Through workshops, school programs, and community gatherings, Ital becomes a tool for learning, confidence, and connection - one that children can carry with them wherever they go.

LEARNING THROUGH FOOD
Chef Troy offers hands-on cooking classes and workshops for children, youth, and community groups - in New York and internationally.
These sessions are experiential and practical: learning by doing, tasting, sharing, and asking questions. Food becomes a way to talk about health, culture, respect for the land, and for one another.
Each workshop is adapted to its environment - shaped by local ingredients, traditions, and the people in the room.
From Jamaica to New York, from Zanzibar to South Africa, Chef Troy shared Ital in schools, farms, kitchens, and communities worldwide.
Teaching children in Zanzibar, cooking alongside local farmers, and exchanging knowledge across cultures has deepened the understanding that food education is universal - and deeply needed.
Wherever this work travels, the intention remains the same: to meet people where they are, listen first, and share Ital in a way that feels respectful, accessible, and alive.
ACROSS BORDERS, ACROSS COMMUNITIES
Community also lives in shared tables - moments where people come together to cook, eat, and reflect.
From farm-to-table gatherings to seasonal community meals, these experiences invite people to slow down, reconnect, and remember food as something we share, not consume alone.
These gatherings are rooted in place, history, and care - shaped by the land and the people present.

UP YOU MIGHTY YOUTHS FOUNDATION
Up You Mighty Youths (UYMY) Foundation empowers young people globally through education, mental health support, and culinary skill development. Inspired by roots in Jamaica, we create safe spaces where youth build confidence, resilience, and practical life skills. Through mentorship and a focus on holistic wellness, we equip the next generation to break cycles and uplift their communities.
LOOKING FORWARD
The vision for Community & Education is to continue growing this work across borders - collaborating with schools, community organizations, and local partners around the world.
Teaching Ital is not about exporting a way of eating, but about exchanging knowledge - learning together, honoring local traditions, and supporting healthier, more connected communities through food.
